Commentary on the News

It gives me no joy to report on what I think is one of the most prominent stories of 2007. America is the most blessed, prosperous nation on earth. God raised this young nation up for several reasons. We have been a gospel light to the world and that remains. We have been Israel's "off-and-on" ally. Our Christian heritage has made us a compassionate nation. But I see a nation pulling away from the one true God and giving a voice to those who hate God or who have a skewed view of Him. This was personified in 2007.

Deconstructing the Second and Hopefully Last Coming of Simcha and the BAR Crowd
When the New York City public/tax payer funded cchool system outlawed nativity scenes from school property as a religious symbol but allows Islamic religious symbols and Jewish Menorah's for Chanukka, the descrimination was legally challenged.
When an Evangelical preacher (whom Moriel and various other ministries distrusted and warned against) was found involved with male homosexual prostitutes and the illegal dangerous drug crystal meth, the mainstream media with its anti-Christian bias had a field day. We at Moriel  had no admiration for Haggert and cautioned people of his involvement with C. Peter Wagner's shenanigans even prior to his being exposed. When Haggert himself was warned by two discernment ministries in partnership with us, he was advised by James Dobson to ignore them and cease correspondence.  Then Dobson was the first to bail out on Haggert. Haggert indeed brought public disgrace to the name and cause of Christ, adding his name to a long list of other theocrats and televangelists who have done the same.

"The first Thanksgiving feasts were harvest festivals. People gathered to celebrate successful harvests and to thank the Earth for its fruits." :"(Scholastic News, November 2, 1990. "....his dogs led the sled smoothly around the final bend and past the finish line. Accepting his medal, Tore thanked... the animal guides" ”and of course, Sedna [Sea Goddess]." :"(Carole Douglis, Tore and the Town on Thin Ice, United Nations Environment Programme UNEP, March 2006; pages 26-27. Part of the "Tunza Environmental Series for Children sponsored by UNEP." "About the Mother of the Sea: In the Inuit traditions of Greenland and North America, water animals first sprang from Sea Mother"s body. Depending on the region, people also call this goddess at the bottom of the ocean " ˜Sedna," " ˜Nuliajuk,' or " ˜Arnarquassaq." All the evil and pollution of the world is said to flow to the sea and settle in Sedna"s thick hair. The community must send a healer to dive into the deep and comb away the grime." )": From a children's book published by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP).
"Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!" 2 Corinthians 9:15
The UN has little tolerance for the God who is our Father. Instead it welcomes the mother goddess of the Intuit people, the pantheistic gods of the world's cultures, and an evolving union of all religions. Any alternative to Biblical Christianity -- including Islam -- strengthens its assaults on the "poisonous certainties" of God's Word.

Actress Jane Fonda is probably best remembered from her anti-Vietnam activism in the 1960s, especially the news footage of her cavorting with the Vietcong behind enemy lines. She has since apologized for her youthful indiscretion, but it seems as though she hasn"t really learned her lesson. It appears she is again cavorting behind enemy lines, this time against the kingdom of God. Christians have been speculating about Fonda"s standing as a believer in Christ ever since her marriage to television mogul Ted Turner broke up reportedly due to her new found faith. Well, it turns out that her Jesus is the different sort of Jesus as found in the Gnostic gospels.
What's going on in there?
Satan's goal is for deception, the leaven of apostasy, and the destruction of God's work!

Would anyone ever have imagined that one day it would become illegal in Britain to teach children to follow precepts laid down in the Bible?
Or that a priest, a rabbi or an imam might fall foul of the law by refusing to bless a sexual union between same-sex couples?
Yet that appears to be precisely what may happen as a result of new regulations soon to be introduced by the Government - and all under the rubric, would you believe, of producing a more tolerant and free society.
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, as his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).
No doubt many of you have, like me, watched with horror, dismay and a growing sense of distaste the recent reports in the British media of the introduction of legalised "Civil Partnerships" for homosexuals. We have seen the relish with which the British press and media has reported this "momentous" event in our history. We have seen the open and shameless displays of homosexual partners celebrating their new found legal standing. We now have the spectacle freely displayed on our television screens of men kissing each other in public - make no mistake about it, the floodgates have only just begun to open!
