The government of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is moving to abolish anti-blasphemy laws that would allow the open blasphemy of God, Jesus Christ, and Christianity by anti Christian groups such as radical Islamists and militant homosexuals and lesbians.

If any one should be prepared by their faith, their worldview, their belief in Scripture and their gift of Holy Spirit discernment to see through the deception of the global warming alarmists, it is the Christian.
Sadly, however, many of those proclaiming themselves as believers have been seduced by the worldly spirit of deception on what has become one of the defining issues of our time.
David Instone Brewer, a scholar of some note at Tyndale House, Cambridge , UK specialising in rabbinics with an academic interest in The Jewish background of The New Testament, published the article in Christianity Today,  October 2007 edition entitled "WHAT GOD HAS JOINED" whose contents were in part opposed by John Piper. We preface our own response by pointing out that Moriel regards this magazine itself as having departed from biblical orthodoxy in general, but after a request we believe this article deserves our comments. David Instone Brewer attempts to argue for a New Testament basis for divorce based on a rabbinic understanding of Exodus 21:10-11. While holding no admiration at all for John Piper, but a fair amount of regard for David Instone Brewer (at least from an an academic perspective), we respectfully disagree with his conclusions.
This letter to President Bush by alleged Evangelical leaders predictably ignores the plight of Christians persecuted throughout the Arab and Islamic world. It unsurprisingly avoids the pro Israel views of Arab Evangelicals such as Walid Shoebat and Joseph Farah.
It also avoids the issue that territorial concessions already made by Israel, under pressure from the oil interest controlled Bush administration, only resulted in Moslems using the forfeited territory to continue the persecution of Arab Christians, the jihad against Israel and The West and created an Iranian-controlled Islamic base in Gaza and by George Bush Sr. in Lebanon.

Court of Justice in London on June 22.
LONDON - A teenager whose teachers had stopped her wearing a "purity ring" at school to symbolize her commitment to virginity has lost a High Court fight against the ban.
Lydia Playfoot, 16, says her silver ring is an expression of her faith and had argued in court that it should be exempt from school regulations banning the wearing of jewelry.
"I am very disappointed by the decision this morning by the High Court not to allow me to wear my purity ring to school as an expression of my Christian faith not to have sex outside marriage," Playfoot said in a statement Monday.
"I believe that the judge"s decision will mean that slowly, over time, people such as school governors, employers, political organizations and others will be allowed to stop Christians from publicly expressing and practicing their faith."

Here"s a good one. On Thursday the Daily Telegraph reports on how academics from the University and College Union oppose government requests to watch out for Islamic fundamentalism on campus and report extreme behaviour to the authorities. According to the Daily Telegraph, Sally Hunt, joint general secretary of the lecturers" union, stated: "Delegates have made it clear that they will oppose Government attempts to restrict academic freedom or free speech on campus" . All very noble, to be sure.
