The "New Intifada" Direct from Moriel Israel

Dear All,

This is our overview of what is happening, it can't be exhaustive, too much is happening and I can't pretend that this is an in depth analysis either, but perhaps it will give Moriel supporters an idea of what is going on. The news over here and the blogs are full (of course) of reports on this "new intifada,"--though whether it is an intifada or not is a matter of debate; but over here it is called the gal-ha-terror, the "terror wave". It has so far lacked the cohesion and concerted nature of a general uprising, but consists more of "lone wolf" attacks, so called. In one sense these kind of attacks are far more terrifying, because they are not localised, they can occur anywhere (thankfully not in our town so far), and even the Moslem friend or trusted Moslem Arab worker that you have known for years can turn into a killing machine. The attacks are not just being perpetrated by the unemployed or the "poor and disadvantaged" sectors of Palestinian society either; one of the recent attacks in Jerusalem was perpetrated by a Moslem employee of Bezek (our national telecom and phone company and in which jobs are coveted) who drove his company car into a group of pedestrians mowing some down, then leapt out and proceeded to stab them.

Last night we had our first Air-raid warning siren here in Nahariya as two rockets fell outside of town. This afternoon as I was finishing this bulletin there was another one. At the moment these alerts are of short duration, perhaps a minute or two. By the time we have entered into the security room, closed the armoured window plates and shut the steel door all is over. On the whole the North is relatively safe from Gaza rocket attacks at present. This is not because of any convivial sentiments by Hamas towards Israel's northern residents. Rather it arises from relatively lower numbers of longer-range rockets in the Hamas arsenal, and their preference for using Tel-Aviv for target practice. The missile technology that Hamas fires at Israeli cities is mostly of the "fire and hope for the worst" unguided type, designed for aiming at large area targets, not for individual buildings or satisfying personal grudges, which require something more sophisticated. This is not to say these things are not deadly,-they are. Fire enough of them at a populated area and eventually you will kill someone;--particularly if the area is close by and there is insufficient time for the target population to take shelter. People have been killed in Nahariya in the past and just last night a teenager in Ashkelon was seriously injured by a rocket blast. Hamas' spectacular lack of success is (humanly speaking) at least partly due to the excellent Iron Dome anti-missile system as much as to the unguided nature of their rockets;--it is certainly not due to any lack of effort on their part. Many of these (particularly the smaller) weapons are home-made (produced in workshops which Israel supplies with electricity free of charge, see below) and launched from Heath-Robinson firing platforms, hidden in schools, nurseries, hospitals and mosques or private houses, protected by human-shields and transported to site even in ambulances and even launched from bread-carts. This makes them quite difficult to eradicate. Even after this operation our national leadership know that we are only buying some months or a year or two at best of peace before we have to "take out the trash" all over again.

State of Moriel 2011-2012

The Ballad of Gorgeous George and Jittery Jacob

George Mueller was a man of God if there ever was one. Spiritually I cannot place myself in his league by any means, but there are obvious inescapable comparisons, not between us but between the challenges faced. Before coming to know Jesus, Mueller was apparently something of a kind of philandering lush who was rather lavish with cash enjoying the high life. After coming to know Jesus, however, he had a heart for poor children (the urban poverty and plight of homeless children in the UK in his day was something akin to Third World conditions today as described in Dickens novels). Less noble in lifestyle than his London counterpart, Dr. Barnardo, Mueller of Bristol had been quite the character.

Hazor'im  ("they that sow") "“ www.hazorim.org - is an initiative set up in New Zealand. Teams of volunteers are gathered from the body of Messiah, given basic training (extramural), and sent to Israel for three weeks. One week of visiting places of Biblical interest, combined with teaching, and two weeks of sharing Messiah Yeshua  on the streets.  The principle tool used in the field is "Messiah Comes" "“ www.messiah.com.es .

It is envisaged that, God willing,  Hazor'im will soon operate out of more countries than just New Zealand.

Expressions of interest are invited. See www.hazorim.org for contact details.

Hank Hanegraaff"s The Apocalypse Code

by Dr. Thomas Ice

For the last fifteen years or so when I have heard Hank Hanegraaff, host of the Bible Answer Man radio program, field questions on eschatology (end times prophecy) it was very clear that he has been against the futurist perspective from the get-go. Hanegraaff has told his audience for years that he was studying the field of eschatology and would announce his views in a book one day. Hanegraaff's book has now been released, entitled The Apocalypse Code :"(Hank Hanegraaff, The Apocalypse Code: Find Out What the Bible Really Says About The End Times and Why It Matters Today (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 2007), 300 pages.)": and has confirmed his rhetoric and tone heard for the last fifteen years on the radio as Hanegraaff has been treating dispensationalism as if it were a cult. Yes, Hanegraaff has been "culting" dispensationalism! Even though Hanegraaff always insisted that he was open to and had not adopted a specific view of eschatology, it has always been equally clear to anyone who is schooled in the various views that he had all along rejected dispensationalism and embraced his own version of a preterist/idealist scheme. Yet, he has never admitted this; and even after the release of his book still refuses to classify his own conclusions in spite of the fact that he assigns labels to virtually everyone else.

There are forces at work within the Roman Catholic Church that are tired of being nice and ecumenical. The need for outward shows of brotherhood like the ECT (Evangelicals and Catholics Together) document is a thing of the past. They are beginning to show their true colors. The bait is no longer sweet and the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction.

The change in strategy has been made possible by a new popularity for things Catholic that began with the opening of Mel Gibson"s film "The Passion of the Christ." Best-selling Catholic books in Evangelical bookstores by Catholic cross-over authors such as Brennan Manning and Peter Kreeft gave Rome another big boost.

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that

He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6, NASB )

Faith: something we exercise at every given time of life. I'm typing this in faith... i really cannot prove 100% that this computer will accurately save what i've written, or that the email will make it to you without fail. When i visited families this week, i had faith that the food they served wasn't laced with rat poison or any other harmful substance " “ though of course, i didn't pull out any sort of chemistry set to test the food so i could be sure. And i had faith that the food i ate would nourish and sustain my body, although i couldn't explain how my body knows how to properly break everything down and send the vitamins to the right places. Put simply, everything you do n life is done in faith. You have faith that the chair you may be sitting in at this very moment is capable of holding you up, though you probably didn't first take measurements and such before sitting in it so you could be guaranteed " “ you simply excercized faith. And so we are to trust The Lord and believe in His Character; we don't need to know all the answers " “ we just need to know Him. Come to the Lord, believing He really does exist, and that He rewards everybody who seeks Him. Though my life is far from perfect, i can testify with all my heart to the truth of that verse (not as though God needs me testimony to validate His Word!). Seek The Lord, and He will reward you " “ without fail. Let us seek His Face!

"serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the L ORD searches all hearts,

and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him;

but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever." (1 Chronicles 28:9, NASB )

'If' is a very small - yet extremely important - word.

As Scripture teaches, any one of us can find God... if we will seek Him.

If.

If...
