Yad Hashmonah is a Messianic Jewish village community with a hotel facility developed by Israeli believers and Christians from Finland. We urge prayer for Yad Hashmonah. The prayer request from Israel is as follows:

Dear friends in the Lord,

The judge ruled against us, claiming that our refusal to allow gay marriage in the Yad Hashmona guest-house is against the law. we were fined 80,000 shekelsand together with our expenses in this case, its very heavy on us.

This is a quote from the ruling:

""Every person who opens a public business in Israel should know that they must serve the whole public equally, without discrimination... which covers sexual orientation as well. As soon as the defendants opened their doors to all, they cannot close them for those who they believe do not meet the requirements found in the Bible or New Testament."

Needless to say, we do not close our doors to anyone who comes to Yad Hashmona, on the contrary, we are a living testimony of good news of the Messiah to many Israelis that pass through us, this is what I am here for. to be a testimony. But to hold a marriage ceremony of a lesbian couple in Yad Hashmona is to violate God's requirement over this place that we claim to be a Messianic village, and we could not do that.

The Lesbian couple's lawyer, claims that the verdict is a precedent in the sense that "the court decided that the principal of equality trumps the argument for freedom of religion and beliefs". So when it came to our right for freedom of faith, and their right to wed at our village, they won.

What happened yesterday was a shock to me. I know how biased the media is, but the extent of the blindness and aggressive responses, took me by surprise.

Immediately upon advertising the verdict as a lesbian victory in the main page of YNET, the Israeli on-line news page, and Ha'aretz, tens of responses appeared praising the couple and calling us many names.

No one even considers the small community in this village and its rights, the right to hold on to scriptural principles, the right to be respected and not violated in your own home.

No one approached us for responses or wanted to hear our side, because the media is not interested in our "primitive stand". When I tried to write a comment to the article, like hundreds of others, it was not posted!

They rejected again and again my comment and other friends comments who tried to stand with us. Talk about freedom of speech...

Letters of mockery were sent to our reception and this morning we received phone calls by angry Israelis attacking our place, saying they did not know we "believe this foolishness" or are "so old-fashioned". Two people called to say they are thinking to cancel their events here.

In Haaretz, it was quoted that the couple "... expressed hope that the owners of the hall wouldn't refuse to hold gay or lesbian events. "Everyone needs to choose where they celebrate. I would be interested to know if they (Yad Hashmona) accept or reject same-sex couples in the future..."so this morning more phone calls were made by guys asking about wedding details, and the receptionist was afraid it is a trap done on purpose, and asked for guidance what to say to avoid another law suit.

But also good came of it: I received phone calls by religious people, praising our courage to stand on God's word, some even said they wished they had a stage to respond to this gay issue abuse of society. I had a chance to share with some that I believe God sees and hears and He will bring blessing from this.

I always felt that God's verse for our place is from Mathew 5: "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden".

Being a group of believers on this hill, a known Messianic village, we cannot hide, even if we wanted to. We cannot hide who we are and that is why we are attacked, it is not us but God on the stand. I may be offended (which I am today, believe me), but God isn't. He was not surprised when His son was crucified and He is not surprised when people are mocking His principles. He will have the final word and we should not loose heart.

Very soon major decisions will have to be made now in regard to our small little hotel's future. We need to redefine what it is that we serve and what is the name of our business.

And if this case means to close the hotel and make it something else..a Bible campus, or a Messianic retreat place... I don't know what, but we will have to do it.

We are carried in Yad Hashmona on wings of grace, I know that. I pray for guidance, clarity of direction and much peace in the process for the people who live here.

Continue to pray for our nation who is so much in the dark, continue to pray for the light to shine in Israel, continue to pray for the "messenger of good news" to do their work.

We need all the prayer we can have to lift this case up before our father for great testimony!

Thank you for standing with me in prayer,
I appreciate it with all my heart,
Ayelet

John Wesley's View of the Error of Calvinism

From The Works Of John Wesley

"Minutes Of Several Conversations"

Q. 74. What is the direct antidote to Methodism, the doctrine of heart holiness?

A. Calvinism: all the devices of Satan, for these fifty years have done far less toward stopping the work of God, that that single doctrine. It strikes at the heart of salvation from sin, previous to glory, putting the matter on quite another issue.

Q.75. But wherein lies the charm of this doctrine: What makes men swallow it so greedily?

A. (1.) It seems to magnify Christ: although in reality it supposes him to have died in vain. For the absolutely elect must have been saved without him; and the none-elect cannot be saved by him.

(2.) It is highly pleasing to flesh and blood, final perserverance in particular.

Q. 76. What can be done to guard against it?

A. (1.) Let all our preachers carefully read over ours and Mr. Fletcher's tracts.

(2.) Let them frequently and explicitly preach the truth, though not in a controversial way. But let them take care to do it in love and gentleness; not in bitterness, not returning railing for railing: let whose who preach it have all this to themselves.

(3.) Do not imitate them in screaming, allegorising, boasting: rather mildly expose these things when time serves.

(4.) Imitate them in this: they readily seize upon any one that is newly convinced or converted. Be diligent to prevent them, and to guard those tender minds against the predestinarian poison.

(5.) Answer their objections, as occasion offers, both in public and private. But take care to do this with all possible sweetness both of look and of accent.

(6.) Very frequently, both in public and private, advise our people not to hear therein.

(7.) Make it a matter of constant and earnest prayer, that God would stop the plague.

The Penal Substitution of Christ

Question:

You should include in your list of those who reject the penal substitution of Jesus Christ C. S. Lewis.  I think he is a far greater threat to the church than many that you mentioned because he is revered by so many, and "godly" men like John MacArthur, Phil Johnson, Dave Hunt and T. A. McMahon refuse to expose C. S. Lewis for the false teacher that he is.   They are willing to give him a pass that they won't afford to others.  I have a email exchange with Phil Johnson to clearly prove this point.  The fact that he didn't believe in the penal substitution of Christ is common knowledge and taught in his book Mere Christianity.  Your work of exposing false teachers isn't really done until you expose this heretic who has had immense evil influence within the church and is partially responsible for leading such notables as Chuck Colson and Peter Kreeft astray.

The one most people have heard is the one I mentioned before"”the one about our being let off because Christ has volunteered to bear a punishment instead of us.  Now on the face of it that is a very silly theory.  If God was prepared to let us off, why on earth did He not do so? And what possible point could there be in punishing an innocent person instead?  None at all that I can see, if you are thinking of punishment the police-court sense.  On the other hand, if you think of a debt, there is plenty of point in a person who has some assets paying it on behalf someone who has not.  Or if you take "˜paying the penalty', not in the sense of being punished, but in the more general sense of "˜standing the racket' or "˜footing the bill', then, of course, it is a matter of common experience that, when one person has got himself into a hole, the trouble of getting him out usually falls on a kind friend." (page 56, Mere Christianity)

Standing up for the truth in an age of error for Christ's sake, His church and His glory,

Lauren

Jacob's Answer:

Dear Laura,

I have obviously publicly detested the horrible deceptions perpetrated against The Body of Christ by Peter Kreeft and Chuck Colson who selectively cited the aspects of CS Lewis that suited them, but ignored other aspects of what he published.

With respect, it appears you do the same. In "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" CS Lewis affirms substitutionary penal atonement with the death of Aslan The Lion. While I too certainly would disagree with aspects of his writings, a comprehensive overview of his work must be evaluated, not only one work in isolation from the whole. He was not a doctrinal theologian and should not be read as one.

As a Christian apologist, CS Lewis was a "credal apologist" only . He defended the broad historicity of the Gospel narratives based on his background as a Professor of Comparative Literature against theologically liberal higher critics (eg. his brilliant and sardonic essay "Fern Seed and Elephants" being a classic case in point). The Screwtape Letters moreover is a true Christian classic that I consider essential reading for young believers and his "Abolition of Man' was a spiritual insight into the long term sociological implications of an increasingly godless education system ; his thesis in this book  was in a sense socially prophetic and is vindicated by history.

None of the conservative Evangelical contemporaries who knew him  (and he met many) doubted his personal faith and again he was an author and an Oxbridge literature expert, not an academic theologian or doctrinal scholar.

While I also have certain areas of disagreement with CS Lewis, I have little  doubt he was a regenerate believer in Jesus whom God used. I think you are not comprehensively understanding CS Lewis. Yes, he had his defects . But he certainly had his virtues. I would not want to highlight his errors without noting his attributes and the blessings God gave the church through him despite his blindness to certain issues.

Respectfully In Jesus,
Jacob Prasch

The Moral Inversion of NZ Evangelicalism

Perry Trotter

As the persecution of Christians in Egypt, Syria, Sudan and Iraq intensifies, for many Western Christian aid agencies it is apparently not a high priority. Here in New Zealand it is not the ongoing expulsion or murder of Middle East Christians that is given special attention by Tear Fund and World Vision "“ rather, it is the one nation in the region in which religious freedom is guaranteed regardless of race.

Chuck Colson

In John's Gospel Jesus spoke of those who persecuted Jewish believers but who thought they were serving God while doing evil (John 16:2 -3). These however were those who so acted because they did not know Jesus or His Father; Chuck Colson however was a man who did evil and claimed to know Jesus and to be "Born Again," the title of his book detailing his testimony of claimed regeneration.
