How Blatant Can It Get?
by Jackie Alnor
A shocking, though not surprising, exposé on Paula White and her husband Randy ran May 20 th in the Tampa Tribune newspaper. Another black eye for Christianity in the public eye. As the world sees these false representations of the Church, can we blame them for being cynical toward the Gospel message? What Jesus told the Pharisees holds true today: "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in" (Matt. 23:13). The gist of the article by Julie Busch, "Of Faith, Fame & Fortune," is that the Whites, pastors of Without Walls International Church in Tampa, have been living in the lap of luxury and going under the knife repeatedly for various cosmetic alterations. "They travel in a $1.9 million business jet. They own a home they purchased for $2.1 million on Bayshore Boulevard and a $3.5 million Trump Tower condo in New York. (Perhaps that explains Paula White’s recent hosting of Donald Trump on her TV program. See past Reflection) Randy rents a waterfront villa in Malibu, Calif." The article paints a picture of the Whites’ marriage as two people living separate lives and both of them are on second marriages with children from previous ones. These things do not escape the public’s notice. This is precisely why the Bible says that elders "must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil" (1 Tim. 3:7). In response to this exposé, a former business associate of the Whites wrote an open letter to them calling them to account for their treatment of people in their church. The Wittenburg Door ran the letter on their website (see link)
My response to Grady was: includes Charisma Magazine. Lee, you speak out of both sides of your mouth. You put down those who abuse the sheep financially and then you put them on your covers. Just this month's Charisma has women on the cover that include --you guessed it -- Paula White. You doubt that she fleeces the church for her own aggrandizement -- the Tribune article established her style of living. Just watch her when she is on TBN's Praise-a-Thon - she tells people if they don't give their prayers won't be answered." As long as the church tolerates these sort of evil workers within our midst, they will continue to proliferate and lead many, many unwary souls onto the same path of destruction on which they are headed. We are flooded with these false brethren who dominate the "Christian" airwaves. In fact, someone sent me this link that illustrates the sad case of those who represent the Lord Jesus Christ to our faithless generation. He wrote: "Three short video clips demonstrating what it means to stand clearly for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and seek His glory…and what it means to equivocate, and seek friendship with the world. Just click on the video, and then click on the "play" icon at the lower left part of each video snapshot." So if and when the hurricane of judgment that Lee Grady predicts coming upon the church strikes, Randy and Paula White will not be the only potential targets. Lee Grady’s own Charisma Magazine, the Trinity Broadcasting Network, and all other enablers of these money-preachers – those who give these people a platform – will share in their judgment. However, I wouldn’t hold my breath. As bad as things are, they’re only going to get worse, leading up to the formation of the harlot church and the persecution of the true remnant.. "In like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works."
