Rick Warren To Speak At The Azusa Street Extravaganza in L A
It is amazing that Rick Warren has been invited to speak at the big Azusa celebration. This celebration is about what happened at Azusa Street which was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. Acts 2:4.
As a Baptist preacher, Rick Warren does not believe in this experience and is against it. In his Purpose Driven Life book on pg. 250 he openly says, "There are NO DEFINITIONS OF THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS in the Bible, so any definitions are arbitrary and usually represent a denominational bias." How can someone have a Doctorate in Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary, or even anyone who has ever read the Bible say such an outrageous thing contradicting scriptures. Does he think that know one reads the Bible? The Bible DEFINES THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS in 1 Cor. 12:1-11. "Now CONCERNING SPIRITUAL GIFTS, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Now there are DIVERSITIES OF GIFTS, but the same Spirit." "For to one is given by the Spirit THE WORD OF WISDOM; to another THE WORD OF KNOWLEDGE by the same Spirit. To another FAITH by the same Spirit; to another THE GIFTS OF HEALING by the same Spirit; To another THE WORKING OF MIRACLES; to another PROPHECY; to another DISCERNING OF SPIRITS; to another PROPHECY; to another DISCERNING OF SPIRITS; to another DIVERS KINDS OF TONGUES; to another THE INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as He will."
Why would Pentecostals invite a man with such contrary beliefs to be a keynote speaker at such a meeting? It is apparent that both sides are using each other. It appears that what happened at Azusa Street is not really the main purpose of this large gathering; otherwise, why would they invite Rick Warren who does not even believe in speaking in other tongues and does not believe that the Bible defines as the Gifts of the Spirit be a speaker there?
It doesn't take a genius to figure out what is going on here. This is an unholy political coalition between the Pentecostals and non-pentecostals in attempt at uniting Christianity in their unholy, unscriptural coalition. Both sides are using each other to gain influence and power over Christians. They are using Azusa Street to achieve their political agenda. This whole meeting is a pretense and is spiritual harlotry.
