Nessim Muse - March 2007
Time to write another update on the happenings in the North. We have had, as usual, a very busy month, filled with all the usual work and lots of visitors from abroad, who use our home as a base for their own outreach and visits. They stay for anything from three days to three weeks, not only encouraging the locals, but also sometimes themselves observing and learning. It has also been a special time of year, with a children’s festival in Jerusalem and the Purim Festival, which we celebrated together with the Carmiel Assembly and afterwards in Nazareth with our Teacher who has been sick for quite a while now. After the sadness of losing Albert, these were days of comfort and rejoicing. We were able to take two children from here to Jerusalem, and both enjoyed the festival tremendously. The Shabbat meetings continue to be blessed, and though our leadership has been decimated, numbers keep up and more are coming. Khalil continues to lead the meetings, and different preachers come to speak. There is a spirit of unity and love, and we all enjoy the times of fellowship Because we have a number of new believers, we hope to start a course on Believers’ Baptism, starting on Wednesday, so this is an important step forward at this stage. Khalil will be initially teaching under my guidance (!). He is hoping to go into ministry himself and looking for a suitable course. Another new thing that has been happening is the “drop-by” impromptu meetings, which are not organized, but somehow five or six believers turn up within minutes of each other. We get some food on the table, and then have a discussion or study. These have also been great times together, and it is all totally unplanned and new. In the middle of all this, I had to have a cataract removed from my right eye, and I am still recovering. The operation seems to have been successful. We ask prayer for the recovery of our friend and leader from Holland, and that the Lord may continue to bless us inspite of all the problems we have been through. Also do not forget our two friends from Jenin, Abdullah and Hashem, whose hearts are open to the Gospel, that they may be changed by the power of God as so many Moslems have been. Remember also the unbelievers who are coming, Cindy, Tali, Arela and others. Our God is mighty to save, and pray for their salvation. May God bless you all, Ruth Nessim, on behalf of the congregation |
